When You Want To “Set It Off”…BUT GOD!

August 10, 2020

Yesterday I was ready to SET IT OFFFF!!! You hear me? I was about to show slap off. I was ready to take my salvation off then put it back on once I got done executing my agenda.

Key words: MY AGENDA

Sometimes life will throw us unexpected curve balls, and no matter how much we’ve been praying, fasting, and living out the word of God, it still causes us to lose our cool.

This morning during my quiet time, I read something that goes right along with my daily prayer, “to live a life that honors Jesus”. When others see me, I want them to see God in me.

It said, “My life is speaking a message about what I really believe, and I want that message to honor Jesus.”

My friend reminded me, as I was discussing the details of my plan with her, that everyone doesn’t know the old me. They only know the “new” me. Surprisingly, this friend who is rarely able to talk me down when I’ve made up my mind, actually got me to change my mind. *insert hand clap:)*

I’m so glad I have friends who not only encourage me and refresh my soul, but who also sharpens me and help me to be a better Christian. (Prov. 27:9, 1 Thess. 5:11, Prov. 27:17)

Y’all, I don’t ever want to ruin my witness because I feel like my agenda is better than trusting God’s plans. Absolutely nothing I would’ve done in that moment I was having yesterday would’ve honored God. NOTHING!!!

I trust that God’s plans for me are good, even when life throws curve balls that makes me want to hit a home run with someone’s head.??‍♀️ My flesh doesn’t control me. I am controlled by the spirit of God and the word of God. His word, according to Hebrews 4:12, is alive and active and sharper than any two edge sword… So, I allowed His word to shred my agenda and read me from the front to the back and back around again. It checked me and showed me how my “agenda” was ungodly, so I repented because I want to be in right standing with God ??‍♀️.

Friends, life happens, but we don’t have to allow it to control us. We have to pray daily for God to interrupt our agendas and replace them with His truths so that we can live a life that brings glory to His name and not shame to the Kingdom. Each day we should purpose in our hearts to put our very best efforts into fulfilling God’s will.

Father, forgive us for the times we feel like we know more than you. Help us to lay down our agendas and pick up yours so that we can glorify you through our words and actions. Create in us a clean heart and renew a right spirit within us. Help us to live a life of complete surrender to You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Live fully devoted to Him,
Tiffany

You’re welcome Melchee! Living for Christ is the best decision I’ve ever made, but we both know that it’s not always easy to respond like Jesus. – Tiffany
